るいこ堂/ruikodou

Ruiko

ruikodou was founded in 2006 by Ruiko, a Japanese designer born on August 19, 1981. After graduating from Sugino Fashion College in March 2004, she began her career designing children’s clothing, but the constraints of mass production pushed her to pursue her own vision of creativity and joy. Since 2017, Ruiko has held 13 solo exhibitions, showcasing her vibrant, functional, and unique designs around six times each year.

With the theme “Everyday is a party,” Ruikodo creates clothing that blends the expressive charm of stage costumes with the practicality of everyday wear. Drawing inspiration from her lifelong love of classical ballet, Ruiko designs pieces that radiate happiness and joy, while integrating thoughtful details like oversized pockets, easy-to-wear structures, and playful features. For her, clothing is not just about style—it’s a form of communication and a way to add color and excitement to daily life. Through Ruikodo, she hopes her passion for fun, colorful, and useful designs will inspire others to embrace their own sense of joy and individuality.
