TETTE - 略歴
Ayano Yanagi
Ayano Yanagi is a designer based in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, and the founder of the fashion brand TETTE.
While traveling in India, she encountered vintage handwoven textiles shaped by decades— sometimes centuries—of human time and craftsmanship. Deeply moved by these materials, she taught herself garment-making and established TETTE in 2022. The individuality and playfulness of the original makers, along with the history embedded in the fabrics, form the core of her creative practice today.
Her background in architecture continues to influence her work through a refined sensitivity to proportion, balance, and presence.
At TETTE, Yanagi works primarily with vintage handcrafted textiles such as Ralli quilts, reinterpreting their inherent irregularity and warmth—qualities that cannot be replicated by machines—into simple and sophisticated silhouettes. Respecting the “stories” contained within each textile, she creates garments intended to be carried forward to the next generation.
In the current collection, “ReBloom,” attention is given not only to the beauty of the Ralli quilts themselves, but also to the fabric remnants produced during the making process. By highlighting both the visible surfaces and the layers hidden within, the collection expresses the essential nature of Ralli quilts—where even what lies inside holds beauty—reimagined as contemporary clothing.
