Somaya Ahmadi is an Afghan-Canadian fashion designer and the founder of Somaya Fashion Studio, a Vancouver-based womenswear label. A graduate of LaSalle College Vancouver, she creates collections that explore confidence, transformation, and identity through contemporary design. Her work is distinguished by sculptural silhouettes, considered construction, and a balance of strength and elegance, creating garments that encourage women to feel powerful, confident, and unapologetically themselves. Since presenting two collections at Vancouver Fashion Week, she has continued to establish her creative voice through projects including the Cashmere Collection 2026. Through Somaya Fashion Studio, she believes fashion should do more than dress the body—it should empower women to embrace their presence with confidence and strength.
Threshold
SS27
Threshold explores the space between who we are and who we are becoming. Inspired by the quiet moments of transition that shape our lives, the collection reflects the experience of standing between one chapter and the next—holding onto the familiar while finding the courage to move forward. Architecture serves as a visual language throughout the collection, with archways, curtains, woven forms, and structural silhouettes symbolizing passage, transformation, and possibility. As the collection unfolds, each look represents a stage in that journey, evolving from uncertainty to confidence through a balance of sculptural construction and fluid movement. A palette of earthy neutrals, deep blue, soft ivory, and luminous chartreuse mirrors the changing qualities of light within architectural spaces, reinforcing the narrative of growth and renewal. More than a destination, Threshold is a celebration of becoming, inviting women to embrace change, trust their own evolution, and step boldly into the next chapter of their lives.
