EMI JINGU

Emi Jingu

Born in 1985 in Sapporo, Japan, Emi Jingu began her career as a stage actress after studying education. In 2013, she launched p0p0balloon, a balloon brand dedicated to bringing joy and color to children and families.

Through her work with p0p0balloon, Jingu became fascinated by the fleeting brilliance of balloons—how their impermanence makes their beauty all the more radiant. This passion led her to establish EMIJINGU, an art-fashion brand that transforms balloons into expressive, sculptural garments.

In 2017, she held a solo exhibition in New York, and in 2018, she won the Dress Category at the U.S. Balloon Art Competition. Her collections have since been showcased in cities around the world, including New York, London, Milan, and Paris. In 2019, she became the first balloon designer to present a collection at Vancouver Fashion Week.

Following her diagnosis with a rare disease in 2020, Jingu embraced a new philosophy—“breathing life into air and particles”—and began redefining balloon art as a powerful expression of fragility, resilience, and the luminous beauty of life.
