OSCURO is a French label founded by Xavier Lopez, a self-taught designer from Alsace who grew up between drawing and fashion. The name comes from the Spanish word “oscuro”, meaning dark, a reference both to his family’s Spanish roots and to the colour at the heart of his work. The house builds its wardrobe on deep black; colour appears only rarely, and with intent. 

OSCURO’s clothing is dark, premium streetwear in which tailoring meets the street: a suit trouser worn with a zipped hoodie sums up the label’s grammar. The designer builds each piece around an obsession with detail and fabric quality, organic cotton and heavy weights, produced in small quantities: nothing is released before it is resolved. The LE LAB line extends this method with unique, experimental, highly worked pieces conceived as the house’s laboratory.  Previous collections were shown on the runway in France around chosen causes, from climate change with Melting and Meltdown to women’s rights. These commitments change from one season to the next; none of them alone defines the house. 

For SS27, OSCURO makes its London debut with the UMBRA collection, shown with Global Fashion Collective during London Fashion Week. UMBRA shifts the wardrobe toward a colder, more structured, almost solemn style. Dark tailoring, urban utility, brutal elegance; the meaning of the collection is left open to interpretation. The house approaches this London step with real but understated ambition, as the natural continuation of the work already in place.
